We couldn't have won. Team Supreme really were the best. But we could have been second. In fact, we were lying second briefly at one point, and lying third quite convincingly for a fair proportion of the race. But we finished sixth. The initial cause was a black flag earned by Gil for failing to stop for a red flag. That cost us two laps at least. The only red item he could see was the red mist which even blinded him to "come into pits" signals. Gary did a short session, followed by Martin for a full session, then Gary did another short run. These driver changes were not harmful, in that we had to do five changes in any case. Craig did the final long session. He was the fastest of the team, but was constantly blocked by slower competitors. Then, in the middle of his run, he was mysteriously black flagged. Put it like this: he was not the only driver squeezing other karts in an attempt to pass, and, yes, he occasionally brushed the crash barriers. Due to Gil's earlier black flag, Craig's penalty was a whole two minutes, which basically cost us a podium place. Never mind. We had fun, and, despite our long layoff, our lap times were very competitive, even compared to Team Supreme's - in the 25 second area. The new track at Camberley/Frimley is very slippery indeed, and some skill is required to negotiate the hairpins, but it does emphasize driver skill over driver weight, which suits us Fugitives rather well.
