Grudge Match against Fleet Elite and D'Oh #6

A night to remember, this. It was clear we had a good kart during practice. Though our time of 31.81 was not remarkable, it was much more remarkable than Fleet Elite's 33.12. Nigel Longton's D'Oh team from Barclays Capital were actually second fastest in practice. It was actually a very cold night and lap times were generally slow in consequence. No-one achieved a sub 30 second time throughout the evening.

Gil took the first leg, some way back at the start, and quickly moved into first place, after a certain amount of pushing and shoving, as is customary at the beginning of the race. The first session was marked by quite a few collisions, but neither the Fugitives nor Fleet Elite were seriously hampered.

After Gil's handover to Marcus, Fugitives were one lap up on second-place Peppermint, three laps ahead of Fleet Elite in fourth place and seven ahead of D'Oh in sixth place. Marcus held the position, though he had a few red mist incidents that threatened to black flag him. It was around this time that Nigel Longton put in a fastest lap of the evening for D'Oh of 31.02.

Marcus handed over to Duncan at the fuel stop, and when all the fuel stops had completed, Duncan had moved easily into a four-lap lead over Easy Riders in second, and Fleet Elite in third, D'Oh in fifth, eight laps shy. This was still the position at the end of Duncan's session.

Martin took over for the final session, still leading Easy Riders and Fleet Elite by four laps. He quickly set a fastest time of the evening of 30.90, then 30.84, then 30.59.

Just six minutes from the end, Fleet Elite managed to squeeze past Easy Riders, who lost a lap somewhere, and after two and a half hours, Fleet Elite were just two minutes behind us, D'Oh ten laps down, still in fifth. And that's how it finished. Truth and Justice triumphed.
